I'm not quite sure where you're seeing more or less than 4" as the instructions are specific to this measurement as you can see in the attached clip.

To transfer sound from TV to Stereo speakers it would require RCA ports. The HDMI and USB are for Video. If the photo you included is the back of the TV then you have RCA ports.
